E-Qual Co-Director forms historic partnership, raising over £90,000 for Welsh students
Drawing on his experiences of studying overseas at Yale-NUS College (Singapore) and Yale University (USA), over the past 6 months, our Co-Director Liam has supported The Seren Network (the Welsh Government’s flagship initiative to support Wales’ most academically able students) by speaking with and mentoring sixth form students looking to apply to competitive universities.
More recently, to amplify this effect and bring more impactful opportunities to Wales’ brightest students, Liam has established an historic partnership between the Welsh Government’s The Seren Network / Rhwydwaith Seren and Yale University’s Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) summer programme.
As a result, 16 students from Welsh schools have received full scholarships (covering tuition, accommodation & board) to take part in the YYGS program at Yale University this summer worth $6,000 each, co-funded by Yale Young Global Scholars and The Welsh Government.
Each of the students will pursue a rigorous academic program in areas such as Applied Science & Engineering, International Affairs & Security, and Sustainable Development & Social Entrepreneurship.
In addition to the scholarship funding totalling $96,000, E-Qual has led the effort to raise over £12,000 to cover traveling expenses, funded by E-Qual and additional partner organisations including eTeach, Unifrog, Golley Slater Cardiff, KRC Chartered Accountants, WJEC / CBAC, Blake Morgan LLP, Cazbah Limited, Towy Electrical Co.Ltd, Horizon Nuclear Power, Cardiff Council / Cyngor Caerdydd and FOR Cardiff.
