Equal director shortlisted for St David Awards
We’re excited to announce that Equal Director Liam Rahman is a finalist for the St David Awards! He has been nominated in the International category for bringing international opportunities to Welsh students through The Seren Network / Rhwydwaith Seren. We are so proud of him!
Ni’n hapus i gyhoeddi bod Liam, Cyfarwyddwr Equal, wedi cael ei enwi ar y rhestr fer ar gyfer Gwobrau Dewi Sant! Mae e wedi cael ei enwebu yn y categori Rhyngwladol am ddod a cyfleoedd rhyngwladol i fyfyrwyr Cymru drwy The Seren Network / Rhwydwaith Seren. Rydyn ni’n falch iawn ohono fe!
Last year, Liam established a partnership between the Welsh Government’s Seren Network and the Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) programme at Yale University. This saw 16 Welsh students receive full scholarships co-funded by the Welsh Gov and YYGS to attend the YYGS summer programme. Equal and additional co-sponsors also raised over £12,000 to pay for all students’ flights in full.
In 2019, the partnership will almost double in size to up to 30 Seren students attending YYGS, and we’re currently working to raise sponsorship to support these students.
This January, Equal also established and managed the MIT Global Teaching Labs in Wales programme which saw instructors from MIT teaching STEM workshops to pupils aged 7-18 in schools in Wales. We look forward to extending more international opportunities to students in Wales!
