Ethical Ratings Cymru pilot accreditation with ESC International

Last month, Equal took part in the Ethical Ratings Cymru pilot accreditation process ran by ESC International (https://www.escinternational.org) on behalf of the Welsh Government. The pilot accreditation process and subsequent report highlighted the strength of our management’s commitment to championing ethical employment.

The Code of Practice on Ethical Employment

In 2017, the Welsh Government published its Code of Practice on Ethical Employment in Supply Chains (https://tiscreport.org/wales). We are one of only 74 (out of 50,255) private sector organisations to have signed up to the code so far.

The new minimum pay rate for supply teachers

Equal is recommended by the new Welsh Government & NPS framework agreement for supply staffing in Wales across all 22 local authorities.

We are committed to paying the new increased minimum pay rate of £121.64 per day (PAYE paid weekly) for supply teachers from September 2019.

We are aware that a high number of framework providers are unwilling to commit to the new minimum pay rates. We are liaising closely with the NPS, Welsh Government, local authorities and schools to promote this to ensure it’s effective and fully implemented.

Living Wage Foundation Accreditation

Equal has also recently been accredited by the Living Wage Foundation (https://www.livingwage.org.uk) for our commitment to ensuring that all team members working with us always receive at least the Living Wage Foundation’s Living Wage (significantly above the statutory National Minimum Wage) for their work with us.
